SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Engineer Exam Prep Guide

Introduction

Candidates taking the IdentityIQ Engineer Certification exam will install, deploy and configure IdentityIQ in their customers’ non-production environments and local sandboxes. Candidates should have a general understanding of identity governance and administration, have a moderate knowledge in XML, Java/BeanShell development, and supported IdentityIQ infrastructure (operating systems, databases, and Java application servers). Candidates should also demonstrate a good understanding of the various components of IdentityIQ which will enable them to implement/develop the individual modules of a solution design.

This audience typically includes IdentityIQ partner staff and SailPoint employees, such as implementation engineers and IAM developers. This exam is also appropriate for customer employees who develop their own implementation.

As this is a role-based certification exam, approximately 1-3 years of implementation experience in the industry is recommended before taking this exam. All candidates are recommended to complete the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) path through Identity University prior to taking the exam.

Exam Information

The exam consists of 66 discrete option multiple-choice questions (DOMC). The exam is online and proctored. The exam seat time is up to 90 minutes, and you must complete the entire exam in one sitting. Upon exam submission, you will receive a Pass/Fail decision. You will automatically have one exam retake available.

The exam will automatically end once you have answered enough questions correctly or incorrectly, meaning all exam questions may not be presented to you. Once you reach the threshold of correct or incorrect number of questions answered, you will automatically receive a pass or fail result. Therefore, you might complete your exam in less than 90 minutes. Please note that you cannot go back and change your answers once a question has been submitted. You will not be able to flag questions for further review.

Discrete Option Multiple Choice (DOMC) Format

This exam contains Discrete Option Multiple-Choice questions. Such questions start by displaying a prompt for you to read. When you have finished reading the prompt, click “Show me an option.” A single option that contains some information will be presented to you. If you decide that the information is correct, click “Yes,” otherwise click “No.” You will not be able to change your answer after clicking “Yes or “No.”

You may be presented with additional options, one at a time, before the system moves to the next question. The number of options you see will vary from one question to the next, depending on a number of factors.

Score Report

At the end of the exam, you will receive a score report. This score report will help you understand your strengths and weaknesses on the exam content. The percentage displayed is the number of questions you answered correctly in that exam section. The lower the percentage, the more incorrect questions you answered on that topic. If you are re-taking the exam, use this score report to guide you on which domains and objectives to focus on. You will also be able to print or email the score report.

Digital Badge

Upon successfully passing the certification exam, you will earn the IdentityIQ Engineer certification, which will be awarded as a digital badge. You will be able to share your digital badge on your LinkedIn profile, where others can click on the badge and validate the certification’s validity and authenticity. Once earned, the Certification is valid for 2 years. You can expect to receive your badge within 24-48 hours upon successfully passing the exam.
