Enhancement: SharePoint Online Permission Collection Task Changing to Graph API

Update (Feb. 24, 2026): This enhancement is now available. Please rerun your SharePoint Online Permission Collection Task to ensure permissions are collected using the updated Microsoft Graph API.

Update (Feb. 19, 2026): This enhancement has been delayed due to a blocking fix currently being addressed by Engineering. We will share an updated release date as soon as it is confirmed. Thank you for your patience.

Action Required: After release, rerun your SharePoint Online Permission Collection Task to ensure permissions are correctly mapped to Microsoft Graph API.

Description

To optimize performance and enable the upcoming revocation feature; we have adjusted our SharePoint Online Permission Collection task to utilize Graph API.

What This Means for You

Currently, DAS utilizes SharePoint REST API to gather permissions. This means, when you are viewing the Resource - Simple Permissions View, you see the Permission Levels based on Advanced Site Permissions

With the updates, DAS is now transitioning to Graph API. Matching also what you currently see in OneDrive, you will now see permissions correlate to permissions you see in the SharePoint Online User Interface

Once the Graph API changes are released, please rerun your SharePoint Online Crawl and Permission Collection Task.

While the transition is occurring you may see permissions placed into the ‘Other’ category. The Permission Collection task will correct this, and remap the permissions to the new Graph API permissions and naming. If you have run your Permission Collection task and still see SharePoint Online permission in the Other category which fall under Owner, Edit or View - please reach out to SailPoint Support.
