SailPoint is committed to keeping our customers informed about critical updates that may impact their services. As part of this commitment, we want to make our customers aware of an upcoming Atlassian Cloud Platform change.

What is changing

Atlassian has announced an important change to its security requirements that affects all third-party integrations, including those utilized by SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC). Effective January 1, 2026, third-party integrations operating outside of their updated security standards and policies may no longer be supported by Atlassian.

What does this mean for you?

SailPoint’s Atlassian Cloud connectors and service desk integration module (SDIM) utilizes authentication methods that will no longer meet the requirements of Atlassian's updated security standards and policies.

The SailPoint team is coordinating with Atlassian to understand its impact on SailPoint services. According to Atlassian’s guidelines, such integrations will not be cut off immediately on January 1, 2026. However, these integrations may face degradation or breakage due to stricter API rate-limiting and throttling.

SailPoint’s Updated Approach for ISC

SailPoint team is actively working on Atlassian’s recommended security standards and will implement central OAuth 2.0 (3LO) in the respective integrations. Enhancements in integrations (Connectors & SDIM) are expected to be available in 2026.
SailPoint will continue active engagement with Atlassian to request flexibility and exceptions for the mutual customer base. SailPoint has the following recommendations for its customers:

  • After January 1st, 2026, if any degradation is observed in processing Atlassian requests via SailPoint integration, please reach out to Atlassian support to request an exception to continue to use the existing authentication until SailPoint releases the enhancements to meet the Atlassian security guidelines.
  • Subscribe to this blog to stay aligned with SailPoint communications, as we will provide clear migration guidance once the new OAuth flow is released.
